I’m back from a month of exams, I’m sure many of you were also in a similar situation and it’s unfortunate I couldn’t help you with some new music. You’ve had to live off the weekly segments, but now I give you a mixbag of just some of the stuff I’ve been digging. Just because I had a two week classical music binge, doesn’t mean I haven’t been enjoying some stuff from more recent times.
Of course, one of my most listened to artists has been Fleet Foxes, who have just released their second album. Apart from the single, Helplessness Blues, my favourite has been the opening track. Montezuma is such a wonderful introduction and those vocal harmonies make you sigh with relief that these guys are back.
Another awesome intro comes from the single D-Pressed, by Mickey Finn, which is an old school Drum and Bass track. I’ve recently found a zip of old DnB/Hardcore vinyl rips and this has been my favourite so far.
Young Montana? takes the sampling, feel good, hip hop vibes of Star Slinger for this track from his debut. It sounds really, really smooth and will bring a smile to the face of anyone who hears it.
