Running Music Mix #30

I’m a tad late with this one. I said every three months and I have failed to deliver. However, I’ll blame you, since I didn’t feel like the one I had made before this was up to scratch. This mix came in a flash of inspiration in the middle of the week and I’m proud of the result. Last time was a complete mixbag of genres, this time we have all tracks which fall under the UK Bass scene, whether that’s Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Funky or whatever you want to call it. Enjoy!

Tracklist

  • Running - Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx
  • The Goose That Got Away - Objekt
  • Bohla – Blawan
  • Ordinary Things – XXXY
  • Battle For Middle You – Julio Bashmore
  • Sketch - Synkro
  • No Limit To Your Love – Dub & Run
  • Limite To Your Love – James Blake
  • The Look (Koreless Remix) - Jacques Greene

Thanks to Kodomut for the great picture.

Up Down Up Down – Koreless

The first time I heard of Koreless, this quote was attached:

“Remember when you first heard James Blake, Ramadanman, well remember this is where you first heard Koreless. Remember this: Koreless with a K” – Gilles Peterson, BBC Radio1

Obviously, this lead to me downloading the song straight away. My expectations on first listen were pretty high, considering those two names were my favourite producers of last year. The track managed to overcome this, and also surprise me with a completely different sound to what I was expecting. Dont get me wrong, this is certainly part of the Bass scene we’ve seen of late, but it manages to be both catchy, danceable and incredibly soothing. The track just washes over you. If his next couple of releases are as incredible as this one, you’ve got my favourite producer of 2011 right here. Download here.
